A direct piping water dispenser is a type of water dispenser that connects to a water tap. The supply of water comes immediately from the water tap instead of bottled water. Most direct piping water dispensers have a water filtration system to remove impurities and contaminants from the tap water. Some direct piping water dispensers have 1 stage water filtration system, and others have 4 stage water filtration system. Each stage of a water filtration system consists of a water filter and each water filter performs a different function, essentially to purify and clean the water from the tap so that it is ready for drinking. 1. Sediment Filter
The sediment filter maximizes the effect of purification from the initial stage by eliminating impurities such as rust, soil and sand. This helps to extend the life of the pre-carbon filter. Service life - 3 to 4 months (500 gallons).
2. Pre-Carbon FilterThe pre-carbon filters remove chlorine, THMs and organic chemical contaminants through an absorption process. This helps filter function properly. This filter also helps to extend the life of the membrane filter. Service life - 6 months (500 gallons).
3. UF MembraneThe UF membrane filter is designed for highly effective filtration of water for waterborne micro organisms and harmful organic chemicals. UF membrane retains beneficial minerals. Service life - 12 months (500 gallons)
4. Post-Carbon Filter
Post-carbon filter removes dissolved gases, chlorine, colors and unpleasant odors to ensure better tasting water. Service life - 9 months (500 gallons)
Note: Please note that Sediment Filters, Carbon Filters and Ultra-fine Filters are NOT effective at removing minerals, salts, and dissolved inorganic substances which contribute to the TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) of water. They are also not effective in removing fluoride (*fluoride helps prevent tooth decay) from tap water. In fact, they retain beneficial minerals in water.
